Congratulations on making it through Horace Bray’s master class. If you completed the master class in one or a few sittings, now is a good time to look back and pinpoint 2-3 things to go deeper on in your practice routine.
Ask yourself these questions:
- How can you take the ideas from this master class and apply them to your own music?
- What things do you need to practice daily?
- What things can you learn quickly and apply right away?
While filming with Horace, our biggest takeaways were the importance Horace puts on his fundamentals and the importance of staying relaxed, no matter how difficult the exercise or chord you’re playing.
When you take both these elements into consideration it paints a detailed picture of how Horace is able to achieve such a high level of fluidity, speed and musicality in his playing. So if there’s two things you could take away from this master class, make it your goal to 1) always stay relaxed and 2) shed the basics.
What were your biggest takeways from this class? Leave a comment in our forum. We’d love to hear from you.
If you have questions about the master class feel free to reach out to us in the PickUp Music forum in the ‘Get Advice’ category. We would also love to see videos of you playing around with songs and ideas you learned in this course. The best way to get involved is to: 1) post your video to #SongSquad and tag @horacebray, and then 2) share that video in our forum and ask for feedback.
We hope this master class has given you insight into not only Horace’s approach to guitar but also on how to break out of ruts in your playing and stay inspired and continually improving.
