Welcome to SongSquad by Horace Bray.
In this section you will learn five original compositions by Horace. We will put everything you’ve learned so far into action in these songs.
For each song, we have included an at-tempo video, a slower version and the TAB.
How to learn these Songs:
1. Listen to the song on repeat. Soak it in.
2. Try to play it by ear (don’t look at the TAB).
3. Pause and slow down the video if you need to, and if you get stuck use the TAB.
4. Practice slowly, then build speed.
While it might be slower for you to learn by ear, it’s a good habit to get into because it helps you develop your ear skills. We recommend only using the TAB if you get stuck or need to double-check Horace’s fingering. That being said, you don’t have to play the songs exactly as he plays them – use these songs as templates to build on and to develop your own riffs.
Make sure to use #SongSquad and tag @horacebray on Instagram when you cover one of the songs. That helps us find your covers and feature you. It’s also a good way to see what other students are up to.
