How to use this class
This class is for beginners or anyone new to blues. Since each lesson builds on the previous lesson, the class is meant to be taken from start to finish.
What should I know already?
We recommend being able to do the following before taking this class:
- Play basic bar chords
- Know what the major scale is
- Have experience playing simple lead lines on guitar
If you’re a complete beginner, we encourage you to take our Guitar for Complete Beginners class where you’ll learn basic technique, correct posture, string names, and basic music terminology.
What gear do I need?
You can use an acoustic or electric guitar for this class, and you can use a pick or fingers. It’s up to you!

Part II. Rhythm playing
You’ll learn how to play chord shapes, shuffle riffs, and chord progressions
Part III. Scales & arpeggios
All the fun stuff 🙂
Part IV. Soloing
In this section you’ll put it all together and start improvising over 12 bar blues
Part V. Jam tracks
Now it’s your turn: three jam tracks and three solos by Seth to learn
Part VI. Licks
50 blues licks in the style of the world’s most iconic blues guitarists
To put it all together you’ll learn three original blues songs by Seth
